Honoring the women veterans who have served in the armed
forces of the United States, and requesting that the West Virginia
division of culture and history examine the possibility of a
fitting memorial on the grounds of the state capitol in tribute to
their service.
W
hereas, The women veterans of our state have made sacrifices
by their service to the nation's armed forces; and
W
hereas, Currently there are six thousand, three hundred West
Virginia woman who are veterans of the armed forces of the United
States; and
W
hereas, Many women have served and are serving in the armed
forces of the United States as enlisted personnel, nurses, doctors,
commissioned and noncommissioned officers, pilots and commanding officers in the armed forces of the United States; and
W
hereas, The military service of women veterans have been
recognized with a fitting tribute in our nation's capital, with
the construction of a statue honoring their service, for which a
contribution was ,made by the West Virginia Legislature of one
dollar for each of our states women veterans; therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Delegates:
That the House hereby recognizes the dedicated service pof
women veterans who have made sacrifices for the safety and
security of all citizens of the United States by their service in
the nation's armed forces; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the House requests that the West
Virginia division of culture and history examine the possibility
of placing a fitting memorial on the grounds of the state capitol
in tribute to the service to the nation of women veterans; and,
be it
Further Resolved, That the clerk is hereby directed to
forward a copy of this resolution to the appropriate
representatives for women veterans; the West Virginia Divisions of Veteran Affairs and Culture and History.
